The short film program focuses on short and medium-length formats that deal with questions of emancipation and (female) self-empowerment .

In the 1980s, Sira, a young woman from Mali, leads a peaceful life in France with her husband Malick and daughter Abi. Her everyday life is conducted in Soninké, the only language she speaks. However, as Abi speaks French badly, the school suggests sending her to a remedial class and asks her parents to give priority to speaking French at home. Sira refuses.

Mariame N'Diaye began writing film and theater projects eight years ago on topics such as the abstinence of young women and the French language from the perspective of immigrants (she teaches FLE, French as a foreign language, and English).

Her interest lies in presenting people, both ordinary and universal, who are suddenly confronted with a situation that confuses them and which they must confront.

N'Diaye's dual Franco-Malian culture allows her to empathize with the different characters she creates, while being seen and heard as a Franco-Malian. In 2023, Mariame N'Diaye made her first short film, "LANGUE MATERNELLE", produced by Golgota Productions.
