The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex is a monument to progress and at the same time to the excessive exploitation of fossil resources. On the scars of the past, nature is reclaiming the site and people are transforming it into a future-oriented meeting place. As part of the Sustainability Days at Zollverein, the "Orchestra of Change" will use live music and photo projections to show us the fragile diversity of nature and pose the question of the future: What remains?
The starting point of the concert is formed by photos by photographer Daniel Häker, which are dedicated to what we have already left behind on this planet, what we dream of and how we can rethink. From fanfares and folk music to classics such as Vivaldi "recomposed" and contemplative sounds, members of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra lay musical tracks that span a rope from the past to the future and make us think about where we want to go as a society.
