Old resentments in a new guise

Lecture & workshop on anti-feminism and right-wing populism

Bans on gender-equitable language, mobilizations against educational opportunities for queer people and attacks against politically active women are a reality in Germany in 2026. These events have a common origin: antifeminism. However, anti-feminism is not a new phenomenon, but has a long history. In the lecture, Rebekka Blum will show the basic mode of action of antifeminism, discuss historical developments and establish links to current debates.

In the workshop, we will first look at how we can identify, understand and classify anti-feminist content. We will then try out how we can react to anti-feminist statements on different levels and in different contexts.
