In the organizer's words:

According to a panel of experts, Germany will not achieve its climate targets for 2030. According to the government's Expert Council for Climate Issues, the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030 will not be met.

However, there are countless individuals and initiatives around the world who are constantly working to improve conditions.

In the exhibition "On the Pulse of Time - Thoughts on the Climate Crisis", artists exhibit works that deal with the environment, the changing climate, natural disasters, the extinction of species and the pollution of oceans and rivers ... Are they looking for solutions or do they feel helpless? Is there a poetic approach or is this real aspect too overwhelming? Does art have a responsibility to address climate change? Does the underground deal with this topic artistically?

The exhibition is curated by the artist Danielle de Picciotto. Her motivation: "In the 1980s it was radical to question art and music styles, in the 1990s it was about radically new technologies, about the digital age. Today, there is nothing more radical than facing up to climate change and rethinking everything we are used to. I always feel called to initiate projects that question our reality, the rules and regulations we abide by. For a long time, the underground was my main theme - the question of how profit dominates our civilization. Then I started questioning gender norms and discrimination in this field and raising awareness for underground artists. In recent years, climate change has become an issue that has become increasingly important to me. Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll seem old-fashioned and reactionary in the face of this enormous threat we face. That's why I decided to integrate this topic into my environment and my art. I feel a responsibility to do my part. Art can provide visions, ways of thinking and creative new paths to inspire others. Imagination can move worlds. This exhibition is intended to encourage a positive approach in this direction. The artists come from very different countries. It was important to me to present an international vision to demonstrate how globally this topic is treated. We can no longer maintain the local frog perspective, it's about the whole, the holistic. We have to learn to pull together."

"SUMMER. ZWEITE RUNDE", video & music performance by Sonae

Sonae is a producer, live performer and DJ of experimental electronic music.

She is part of the label collective Monika Werkstatt.

Climate change and its consequences for people and nature were already the subject of the work "Summer" (2021), an album by Sonae for the French concept label la a p s and a. With her AV performance "Summer. Second round" at the opening, Sonae takes up the theme again and develops it further - just as those responsible seem to need it until action is finally taken.
