To the spring (opening concert)

Once again, a cappella and its hosts amarcord are entering the merry month of May with a fresh spirit and program - but for the first time together with and at the Leipzig Opera!
In 2026, a festival will celebrate Albert Lortzing, who made a name for himself as an opera composer during his time in Leipzig. At the start of their in-house festival and in the linking of the "houses", amarcord will be tracing what Lortzing and - in true amarcord style - his contemporaries once actually put to paper and voice for vocal ensembles and choirs. We can expect an a cappella opening in the spirit of the Romantic tradition of male choir and liedertafel, with works by Lortzing and, for example, Marschner or Mendelssohn - and the sociable and sonorous opening chord to another vocal spring in Leipzig!
