In this poetic masterpiece, Mosese reflects on personal experiences of uprooting and belonging through fragmented narratives and mythical images - a meditation on his childhood and growing up in Lesotho until his exile. Inspired by oral storytelling traditions, ANCESTRAL VISIONS OF THE FUTURE is a poetic autobiography that develops in spirals and loops. A recurring image of blood-red fabric weaves together memories of war, childhood and encounters with a series of mythical figures, including a street puppeteer, a martial artist and last but not least - his mother.

The filmmaker and visual artist, who lives and works in Berlin, has already been a guest at AFRIKAMERA several times, most recently in 2020 with his film THIS IS NOT A BURIAL, IT'S A RESURRECTION.

ANCESTRAL VISIONS OF THE FUTURE celebrated its world premiere at this year's Berlin International Film Festival in the "Berlinale Special" section.

As a self-taught filmmaker,LEMOHANG JEREMIAH MOSESE realized the cinematic essay MOTHER, I AM SUFFOCATING. THIS IS MY LAST FILM ABOUT YOU, which premiered at the Berlinale Forum in 2019 and was shown at other renowned festivals and institutions such as MoMA. His feature film THIS IS NOT A BURIAL, IT'S A RESURRECTION won over 30 awards, including the Visionary Filmmaking Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
