Arienabend Jonathan Tetelman | Werke von Verdi und Puccini

In the organizer's words:

An evening full of passion, drama and Italian operatic magic: Jonathan Tetelman, one of the most sought-after tenors of his generation, dedicates himself to the great masters of bel canto - Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini. Accompanied by the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie under Constantin Orbelian, he presents touching arias, duets and symphonic interludes that cover the entire spectrum of Italian operatic art - from heroic radiance to the finest lyrical intimacy.

The concert spans the passionate world of Verdi and Puccini. It opens with the powerful Sinfonia from Verdi's early opera "Oberto", followed by poignant moments from "I due Foscari" and "La traviata": Jacopo Foscari's lament, Alfredo's desperate search and the famous father-son duet with Giorgio Germont. The sombre grandeur of "Don Carlo" is also present - with the introspective aria of the Infante and the moving friendship duet with Rodrigo.

After the interval, the stage opens up to Puccini's world of sound: the bittersweet conversation between Rodolfo and Marcello from "La bohème", the tender intermezzo from "Madama Butterfly" and the painful farewell scene between Sharpless and Pinkerton. There is a symphonic interlude from "Manon Lescaut" before Tosca reaches its dramatic climax with the lyrical romance 'Recondita armonia' and the existential aria 'E lucevan le stelle'.
