Terms such as flight, migration and asylum characterize current social and political discussions. However, they are often used indistinctly or deliberately distorted in debates. This makes it all the more important to clearly identify their differences and better understand their meaning.

Svenja Niederfranke from the Migration Center of the German Council on Foreign Relations explores these questions. She explains what the terms mean in political and legal terms and shows why precise language is crucial when it comes to refugees and migration.
