Samuel Gapp & Rodrigo Brandão

Samuel Gapp & Rodrigo Brandão - an improvisational ensemble under the direction of Samuel Gapp, which brings the music he has conceived to life in a unique act. Including words written or selected and spoken by Rodrigo Brandão himself. The messages expressed in sound and language shape and influence each other in an organic feedback loop. Listening is the origin and the common point of reference. As with the pororoca, when two forces meet and their resistance creates a natural phenomenon: an unstoppable movement that carries on. An old African proverb says: "If you want to be fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." A ritual conjured up in collective collaboration, under the sign of the Orixás: AXÉ.

The concert is part of an ongoing collaboration between Samuel Gapp and Rodrigo Brandão. Their joint research process explores the reciprocal relationships between different thematic fields: Transculturality, ritual and ceremony in music, as well as the tension between composition and improvisation.
