Three-hour guided tour of trees and shrubs in Berlin

Discover the largest plants in our surroundings

Trees and shrubs characterize the cityscape of Berlin, be it in forests, parks, along streets or in private gardens. This tour offers a practical introduction to the identification and use of native trees and shrubs. Which species do we encounter? How can we recognize leaves, bark, fruits or buds? Which plants are edible and which are poisonous? All these questions are answered during the three-hour excursion.

The tour begins near the Grunewald S-Bahn station with a short round of introductions. We then go on a tour of the forest, looking at different types of trees and shrubs. One focus is on the identification features: Leaf shape, growth form, bark structure, fruits and buds. The latter make it possible to identify the species even outside the classic vegetation period.

In addition to practical identification, the tour also imparts ecological knowledge. Historical, mythological and cultural backgrounds are added so that participants can retain and apply the information more easily. The group size is deliberately limited to 12 people to allow for intensive support and individual questions.

The tree tour is suitable for beginners as well as for those interested in natural history who would like to expand their knowledge of native trees and shrubs.
