Bongeziwe Mabandla is a multi-award-winning artist and one of the most influential voices in modern African music. With his four acclaimed albums Umlilo, Mangaliso, iimini and amaXesha, he has won two South African Music Awards, a Feather Award and a Metro FM Award, among others.
His most recent album amaXesha was named "Global Album of the Month" by the Guardian and praised for its emotional depth. In 2023, his COLORS session made him internationally known to a wide audience. In 2024, he toured the world with amaXesha to sold-out crowds, performing in cities such as London, Paris, New York, Berlin and Mexico City. He is internationally acclaimed for his intense, emotionally charged live shows.
He has performed at renowned festivals including the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, WOMEX, the Reeperbahn Festival, Lake of Stars, Afrovibes and the Oslo World Festival. At the beginning of 2025, he released amaXesha Remixes, in which producers from all over the world reinterpreted his songs with afrotech, afrohouse and electronic elements.
He is also involved in the fashion world - including collaborations with Thebe Magugu, Nao Serati and Gugu by Gugu. Bongeziwe Mabandla combines innovation and soul and creates music that transcends borders and languages.
