Mathematics student Charlie is sitting on the subway with a black eye. She has just googled "bad person" and is now on her way to an anti-aggression training course for women. Only if she takes part will she be allowed to continue living with her best friend Ella. She can't go back to her own apartment. But Charlie wants nothing to do with the "serious criminals" she suspects she will meet in the group. Is it her fault that her ex-boyfriend Valentin repeatedly drove her to white heat? It had started well: With him by her side, she finally felt beautiful, a better person. Until it escalated. It is only when she talks to the other women that Charlie begins to face up to her own responsibility and retell the story. With Ella's support, she fights her way out of the spiral of anger, pain and shame.

Clara Leinemann, born in Cologne in 1994, studied creative writing in Hildesheim and writes prose, drama and radio plays. Her play Buddeln has won several awards and has been performed in various theaters in Germany and in translation in the Netherlands. She has received various scholarships for her work, including the Berlin Senate Scholarship and the working scholarship from the Fritz Hüser Institute for Literature and Work. She lives in Berlin.
