With stories from different times and regions, she shows that much of what we consider "normal" today is by no means historically self-evident. Whether Roman ideals of beauty, ancient networks of scholars or alliances in the American civil rights movement - Llanque's book is an invitation to rethink history and to understand diversity as a historical constant.

The author guides her audience through topics such as power, patriarchy, class, skin color, sexuality and faith with a clear view and a great deal of narrative joy - and makes it clear that our society could have looked very different.

Morgane Llanque was born in Berlin in 1994 and works as a journalist and author. She writes for Zeit, taz and Good Impact magazine, among others, where she regularly addresses the history of diversity in her column "Histourism". In 2024, she was awarded the NRW Consumer Advice Center's journalism prize in the "Young Talent" category for her work. "Vielfalt" is her first book.
