Buchpremiere mit Sirka Elspaß

How can we find comfort in a world that often seems so bleak? In her new poetry collection "hungern beten heulen schwimmen", Sirka Elspaß provides a poetic answer: with a keen sense of the spaces in between, tender anger and a sharp look at her own and society's burnout. Her texts tell of pain, vulnerability, the search for support - and of how a single verse is sometimes enough to move on. Despite all the pain, her poetry seems to float lightly.

Sirka Elspaß was born in Oberhausen in 1995. She studied creative writing and cultural journalism in Hildesheim and language arts in Vienna. Her debut "ich föhne mir meine wimpern" was nominated for the Debut Prize of the Austrian Book Prize and awarded the Orphil Debut Prize 2024.
