Gray Wolves - Turkish right-wing extremism in Germany

With around 12,000 followers, Turkish right-wing extremism is the second largest extreme right-wing movement in Germany. It is known as the "Grey Wolves" or Ülkücü movement, whose ideology is deeply influenced by anti-Semitic, authoritarian, nationalist, anti-queer and racist elements. In Turkey, the movement has a significant influence on government policy; in Germany, it is anchored in society through certain mosque and socio-cultural associations. The lecture sheds light on its history and ideology and provides a current picture of the situation in Germany. A particular focus will be on the youth work of the "Grey Wolves".

Dr. Ismail Küpeli is a political scientist and deals with nationalism, racism and anti-Semitism in Germany and Turkey - both in the respective majority societies and within the respective minorities.
