In the middle of the Black Forest lies the hotel "Zum alten Forsthaus", whose best days are long behind it. Only a few guests stray into the increasingly dilapidated house. This makes it all the more surprising when Daniela, a seemingly vulnerable stranger, takes up permanent residence. Lisa, the owner's adult daughter, takes care of her. While Daniela blossoms and quickly integrates into the village community, close confidants turn away from Lisa - ultimately even her husband. When autumn finally arrives, the days get colder and the shadows in the green valley get darker, Lisa begins to suspect that her world is about to fall apart.
