The Düsseldorf housing market is officially considered to be tight, but in reality the housing shortage continues to grow. In the opinion of the Alliance for Affordable Housing, the housing policy agreements in the coalition agreement between the CDU and the Greens do not meet the major challenge of providing affordable, appropriate and secure housing for all Düsseldorf citizens.

The alliance therefore invites all tenants and those interested in housing policy to an information and discussion event. The announcements contained in the coalition agreement between the CDU and the Greens are confronted with the reality of the Düsseldorf housing market. Affected tenants will also make this reality clear from their personal perspective.

The alliance will explain its most important housing policy proposals and put them up for discussion. This basically includes removing housing from the market as a means of satisfying an elementary basic need. The organizers would like to enter into a discussion with the audience about how this goal can be achieved and which steps are possible and sensible along the way, and hope for lively participation and many further suggestions.

The Alliance for Affordable Housing Düsseldorf is a politically independent association of committed people who may be active in various other contexts (initiatives, organizations, parties). The alliance uses exemplary actions to draw attention to shortcomings in the housing market. It aims to use extra-parliamentary pressure to persuade local politicians to campaign for more affordable and secure housing in the city. The alliance supports and networks those affected and encourages them to stand up for their own interests.
