After an extensive tour of the UK and Ireland, Canadian rock duo cleopatrick are coming to Germany for six exclusive shows in 2025. In their luggage: their second studio album "FAKE MOON", released on their own label Nowhere Special Recordings - a bold, sonically experimental step forward and a testament to the self-image of a band that remains uncompromisingly true to itself. But cleopatrick are more than just two musicians. Luke Gruntz (vocals, guitar) and Ian Fraser (drums) share a life story that could hardly be more honest: Ever since they met at the age of four in the small Canadian town of Cobourg (Ontario), they have been inseparable - growing up together, socialized musically and determined to follow their very own path in music. With their debut EP "the boys" (2018) and the hit "hometown", which was their breakthrough, cleopatrick told their own story early on: DIY to the core, without a major label, but with a sound that moves between fuzzy rock, hip-hop energy and emotional honesty. The song about the fear of never being heard ironically became the track that opened doors for them worldwide - a bittersweet turning point, like something out of a coming-of-age movie that no one ever made. Their 2021 debut album "BUMMER" was loud, raw and personal - a kind of musical time capsule of their youth, recorded with friend and producer Jig Dubé, acclaimed by The Guardian, MTV, BBC Radio 1 and awarded a JUNO nomination for best newcomer band of the year. It was also a statement against the clichés of traditional rock music: no poser gestures, no macho posturing - just honest lyrics about fear, anger, belonging and self-doubt. With "FAKE MOON", cleopatrick are opening a new chapter. Recorded in Brooklyn with producer Philip Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker, Tomberlin) and guitarist Mike Haldeman (of Hand Habits, among others), the band's second album is more multifaceted than ever. Between introspective moments, digitally destroyed soundscapes and hard breaks, the band deals with themes such as loss of identity, peer pressure, disinformation and the question of who we can still believe in an increasingly confusing world. The live shows, which start in Germany in October 2025, promise exactly that: a rousing mix of new songs and the DIY anthems of recent years, presented with the intensity that cleopatrick are known for. Whether in dark clubs or on big festival stages - their energy is palpable, their message honest and their connection to the audience tangible.
