Cordones Industriales

Cordones Industriales focuses on five cleaners who try to organize themselves under precarious working conditions and in an anti-union environment. Threats of dismissal and mysterious leaflets calling for new forms of organization form the starting point of a joint search.

The characters immerse themselves in the history of the Cordones Industriales - a movement that united thousands of workers in Chile in 1972/73, occupying factories and organizing production collectively. The play, which premiered in 2014, makes this often repressed experience of collective resistance visible and preserves an intangible legacy of Chilean workers' history.

Tarea Urgente is a theater collective from Chile that has been working at the intersection of theater, history and political practice for over 13 years. Cordones Industriales is the collective's first guest performance in Berlin. Before the performance, the exhibition Atando Cordones with materials from the collective's research will be on display. This will be followed by a Q&A with the ensemble.
