In reference to Morton Feldman's late work "Crippled Symmetry", the artists develop repetition, variation, context shifting and reinterrogation - less as abstract concepts than as tools of individual artistic biographies.
Third day of the festival, Sunday:
Concert 1: 19:00, St. Elisabeth Church
Ensemble KNM Berlin
Sound as a new beginning - Set 5
Based on her own Long Covid experience, Petra Strahovnik develops a composition that focuses on breathing, healing and new beginnings. Inspired by modern trauma research as well as practices such as yoga nidra, vipassana and mantras, the work combines individual experience with collective wisdom. Through fragmented, changing material, breathing phrasings and ritual gestures, a meditative sound space is created in which body and mind, past and present meet.
Concert 2: 20:30, Villa Elisabeth
Ensemble KNM Berlin
Safe spaces - Set 6
Retama is the first collective network of Peruvian women composers of contemporary music, founded in 2020 to make music by women more visible and create safe spaces for interdisciplinary projects. Their program brings together four works that focus on cycles, rituals and the connection between humans, nature and the cosmos. The young female composers draw on the mythology and history of their homeland.
