Daziwschen // Jasmin Sermez & Melina Amandowitz

In the organizer's words:

The exhibition "In Between" is a collaboration between the artists Jasmin Sermez and Melina Amandowitz. Their art moves in the field of tension between external appearance and inner experience. Both artists approach the subject in different ways. While Jasmin Sermez focuses on emotional states and the interplay of feeling and color, Melina Amandowitz examines her own being by looking at the outside and adopting different perspectives.

Both positions are rooted in abstract painting, but differ clearly in their formal language. Despite the strong abstraction, the faces in Melina Amandowitz's works remain recognizable as such and move in the border area between figuration and dissolution. Jasmin Sermez, on the other hand, completely distances herself from the representational in many of her works and focuses on the immediate effect of color, structure and movement as an expression of inner emotional states.
