Workshop

The clown reminds us what it means to be human: he walks through the world with an open heart, says yes to life and is not afraid to fail. Closely associated with the archetype of the trickster, the clown also disrupts our orderly, rule-ridden lives - simply by being pure and simple. The Trickster, a powerful entity between animal, human and deity, playfully challenges norms and patterns of behavior.

In this course, we want to explore the theater form of the clown and its techniques. We will focus on the energy of the trickster in the clown. The clown as an intermediate being: We want to meet in these in-between worlds and explore the transformative power of the trickster working through the clown.

Clara Isenmann has been performing the family play ALS DIE SCHOKOLADE VOM HIMMEL FIEL at Theater ANU since 2022. Her approach to the child - whether the little person or the child in us adults - is touching. She has been working as a clown for many years. As an actress, Clara is engaged as a guest in various theaters and in the independent scene (e.g. Theater im Palais Berlin, Volksbühne, Ship of Fools). With her own works, in which she also works as an author, puppet maker and musician, she invites us into magical, poetic worlds. Since 2019, she has been touring Europe with the puppet solo "Schoßzirkus", a circus under a skirt (including the International Women's* Theater Festival and Theaterspektakel Zurich). Most recently, the puppet theater piece "Tiefseensucht" (Long Night of Museums Berlin) was created in collective work. Clara studied Physical Theatre (MA, LISPA) and Audiovisual Media (BA) and completed further training in the field of puppet theater (Figurentheaterkolleg Bochum).
