With Punk ist scheiße, Punk ist geil, Deutsche Laichen present their second LP to mark the band's 10th anniversary and five years after their self-titled debut. Named after a song on the album, Punk ist scheiße, Punk ist geil is a sometimes witty, sometimes confrontational and always deliberately irreconcilable inventory of punk as a scene, community, attitude and projection surface. The specific feelings of millennial punks and questions about their own identity between activism and a world that seems to be in a negative spiral are further core themes of the album. But queer love songs and playful punk anthems also find their place. Punk is shit, punk is cool is not a love letter or a reckoning, but a field of tension that must be endured.

Since their formation in 2016, Deutsche Laichen have stood for feminist punk, political storytelling and collective practice. Their sound combines toughness and vulnerability, humor and seriousness, anger and tenderness with clear political messages. In recent years, they have established themselves as one of the most powerful voices in the German-speaking DIY music landscape.

With their new album, Deutsche Laichen sharpen their profile as a band and were able to win Moses Schneider as producer for the project. All aspects of the release, such as design, video conception, photos, etc., are realized by the band with a team of FLINTA people. With the decision to release the album on Pretty on the Inside, the new sub-label of AUDIOLITH, the band is taking a deliberate step: the cooperation combines their political stance with a new explicitly feminist label that promotes emancipatory perspectives, thus creating a suitable framework for the upcoming releases.
