Svaneborg Kardyb – SUPERKILEN

If harmony had a double name, it would definitely be Svaneborg Kardyb. The young duo, who have already won the Danish Music Awards 'Jazz for Talent of the Year' and 'Danish Jazz Composer of the Year' for their debut album, seem to develop their hauntingly beautiful sound out of a deep, telepathic connection. Nikolaj Svaneborg, with his soft, silky style on Wurlitzer, synthesizer and piano, places delicate melodies at the heart of compositions inspired by Danish folk and Scandinavian jazz. Jonas Kardyb gives them a haunting and at the same time floating pulse on drums and percussion with calm intensity. Their 4th album Superkilen, released on the stylish and exciting UK contemporary music label Gondwana Records, is named after a public park in the ethnically diverse Nørrebro district of Copenhagen. This former wasteland was transformed by an art group into a meeting place of tolerance and unity between locals and migrants, changing the way the whole neighborhood lives together.

For Svaneborg Kardyb, her new work symbolizes a music that exudes space and serenity as a tonic in the tense and overloaded atmosphere of life in this decade. And that's exactly what their sound gives us, between delicate minimalism, catchy grooves, subtle electronic vibes, Nordic atmosphere, light-filled melodies and organic, playful interplay: the feeling of flowing together in the moment with lightness and inner connection.
