Paris, 1844: back from his last journey through his homeland, he writes "Deutschland. A Winter's Tale", Heinrich Heine's later most famous book. The travel narrative full of wit and poetry is also a speech from exile. Long affected by censorship and bans, the work can be experienced in its entirety on stage for the first time since 2018.

To mark the reopening of the Kapelle99 venue by the city of Berlin, "Deutschland. A Winter's Tale" returns in a series of performances. Georg Stephan (Schauspiel und Oper Frankfurt, Münchner Kammerspiele, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg) plays Heinrich Heine again: 2132 verses, unabridged, as a pure, lively theater event.
