„Die Frau, die nachts zum Kiosk ging“: Lesung und Gespräch mit Lioba Happel und Signe Ibbeken

In the organizer's words:

"I'm sending you this report. You read about me in the newspaper and you wanted to understand what happened when I went to the kiosk in the park at night to get water for my baby." Who is this woman who then follows a stranger into the night?

Jocelyn spends five days and nights with him and can't get away. She plunges into monstrous states of mind, encounters forces that reveal themselves to her in archetypal images and figures. She has to face them - as well as her biography, as well as this man, as well as her sexuality. "She looked him in the eye, she heard a child scream, was startled by something, she immediately forgot it again."

Lioba Happel lives in Lausanne, Berlin and Brandenburg. Has published numerous works of poetry and novels. Various awards, most recently the 2021 Alice Salomon Poetry Prize. 2023 Swiss Literature Prize for the book "Pommfritz aus der Hölle" - this book was also nominated for the Swiss Book Prize in the same year.

Signe Ibbeken, author and actress, has worked intensively on Lioba Happel's text as part of her editing work. She will moderate the evening and interview the author about the writing process and the story behind the story.
