Negatives from the Dumpster 1900-1945
Through photographs taken from his collection of negatives, Martin Wagner optically traces nearly five decades of the 20th century. He doesn't look back at world-famous events. Instead, he projects onto the pages of his book a part of history doomed to oblivion. His contribution to the knowledge of the Central European past - and thus European culture in general - is forged from what remains of people who have not lived to see their personal records revived. Although the reproduced photographs were generally not intended for the public, this book transforms them into a transpersonal legacy.
-Josef Moucha, Illuminations of a vanished world
