Finale der Hamburger Poetry Slam Stadtmeisterschaft

The Hamburg City Championships in Poetry Slam take place once a year. A 4-day festival to find out who will represent the city of Hamburg at the 2026 German-language poetry slam championships. This festival will reach its brilliant climax on June 6 with the grand finale at the Fabrik in Altona.

Hamburg is the German poetry slam capital; no other city hosts more regular poetry slam events. And the Hamburg City Championship is the city's most important slam event. The best poets, whether poetry, prose, politics or slapstick, meet here. It's all about fame, honor, a golden Elbsegler and the opportunity to represent Hamburg at the German-language championships in Hanover.

Poetry slam is a competition in which poets compete against each other with their self-written texts. They are not allowed to use costumes or props, it's all about the performance and the spoken word. The texts are always different. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious. Sometimes rhymed, sometimes narrated. Sometimes highly lyrical, sometimes silly. The thematic and formal freedom of the texts makes each poetry slam a unique, colorful event in which the audience finds itself between profoundly thoughtful texts and diaphragm-shaking comedy.
Who triumphs in the end is of course decided by the most competent jury there is - the audience.

As in previous years, the Fabrik provides the perfect arena for the festival's finale on June 6. Here, not only will the best texts of the past season be catapulted into the microphone, but trophies will also be raised in the air and perhaps a tear or two of joy will be shed.
