Girls don't cry - Leipzig-Premiere mit Filmgespräch

Six girls from six countries: In GIRLS DON'T CRY, they talk about their longing for a self-determined life, their desire to fall in love without paternalism, equal rights and without others having power over their own bodies. We experience their defiance and self-confidence, their strength in dealing with social pressure, prejudice and the violence that defines their lives. The documentary film by German director Sigrid Klausmann has won several international awards. For the Leipzig premiere, Passage Kinos in cooperation with SAIDA International e.V. invites you to a special screening followed by a film discussion: Fatia Noor and Simone Schwarz will discuss with the audience how girls' rights can be consistently implemented and what it takes to effectively protect girls from violence.

Fatia Noor grew up in Kenya and now lives in Berlin. She is a community expert, particularly on the topic of female genital mutilation, and is active on the board of SAIDA International. Simone Schwarz is the founder and chairwoman of SAIDA International and has been working on gender-based violence for over 20 years.
