SWAN LAKE - A CLASSIC IN A NEW SETTING

For years, Grand Classic Ballet has been synonymous with great classical ballet experiences on German stages. With its traditional winter tours, the company regularly brings classics such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker to theaters across the country - works that for many are an integral part of the pre-Christmas season and have become cultural rituals.

With "Swan Lake - Beyond the Stage", Grand Classic Ballet is now deliberately taking a new direction. The production was developed to bring the famous classic to life beyond the winter months and on smaller stages - in a form that remains familiar while opening up new perspectives. The focus remains on the classical ballet and the well-known story of Odette and Odile. What is new is the way the story is told: more concentrated, direct and emotionally condensed. A live string quartet accompanies the dancers directly on stage and lends Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's music a special presence. The chamber music sound brings out subtle nuances and intensifies every movement, every expression.

The production deliberately focuses on clarity and focus. Instead of grand effects, expression, tension and emotion come to the fore. "Swan Lake - Beyond the Stage" is not a scaled-down version of the large-scale production, but an independent artistic form that gains impact through reduction. With several hundred performances a year, Grand Classic Ballet is one of the most active ballet companies in Germany. From March, this new version of Swan Lake will be touring Germany all year round and adapting flexibly

flexibly to a wide variety of stages. This is exactly what it was created for: to present classical ballet art in high quality where proximity enables new intensity.
