HERE=NOW 2026 "opening night"
"narrative of an echo" by Alonso Núñes Quirós (Costa Rica) & Dalila di Gennaro (Italy)
A discourse format for the play by the audience award winners HERE=NOW 2025
The piece "narrative of an echo" was created as a duet, inspired by the paradox of Theseus' ship: if all parts of a body are gradually replaced, can we still speak of the same body? The work explores identity as a dynamic and evolving construct in which transformation and continuity exist simultaneously.
After winning the Audience Award at the "HIER=JETZT" Festival 2025 in Munich, Alonso Núñez Quirós and Dalila di Gennaro return to open the festival with a longer, more developed version of the piece. With the support of the Prize, this new version deepens the choreographic and dramaturgical research, expands the physical language and refines the conceptual framework of the piece.
Through a multi-layered and embodied approach, "narrative of an echo" explores processes of change, memory and self-perception over time, offering the audience a captivating reflection on how identity is shaped by perpetual transformation.
