Hypnotize

Hypnotize has stood for underground battlerap from East Germany for years. What began early on as uncompromising boom bap quickly developed into an independent sound: dirty, raw, punchline-heavy - and at the same time personal and reflective. Hypnotize stands for rap without mincing words. For lyrics that dish it out, but also make you look inwards. Lines that stick because they show attitude: "Your rap sounds very educated, why don't you become a teacher or a police deputy?" Or autobiographical and unsparing: "I've been doing this shit since I was 14, they told my mom her son is a troubled kid. She said don't listen to it, because if you always believe what you're told, you'll go blind."

With his latest album "Räubervisagen", Hypnotize has further sharpened this approach and confirmed it live. Last year alone, he played twelve shows throughout Germany, cementing his reputation as an uncompromising live MC from Magdeburg. Hypnotize is not a trend product, but the result of perseverance, stubbornness and years of work. Anyone looking for underground boom bap with substance will not find a throwback here - but an artist who knows exactly why he is going down this path.
