IN TRANSITION - from Performance to Exhibition

an international group exhibition in the gallery of the Verein Berliner Künstler
Initiated by the curatorial team Corinna Rosteck, Simone Kornfeld and Yukihiro Ikutani, the project is dedicated to the question of how performance and visual art - which have been constantly overlapping and complementing each other for decades - can be presented, made visible and experienced. Physical actions resonate with the exhibited works, opening up dialogues in the space and transforming the exhibition into a permeable network of image, movement and presence.
This innovative exhibition project sees itself as a laboratory for a lively interplay of the arts. Painting, action painting, drawing, sculpture, video, dance, live performance, photography and augmented reality form interfaces in the focus of artistic forms of expression: When does a recording remain mere documentation of a performance and when does it develop an autonomous artistic language? How are affiliations made visible, reflected and transformed? How can movement and dance be exhibited in its fleetingness?
With diverse performances, actions and happenings, a comprehensive program of 35 international artists will be offered, in which time-based, visual and media art intertwine. Transitions, transformations and changes of perspective can be experienced - a fusion of live act and exhibition format.
