🔥 ⚗ Experiments overload!
On May 6, we have Marcus Weber from the Physikanten as our guest - known from the ARD show "Wer weiß denn sowas?". It's about time! After 28 shows with over 40 stage experiments, "Circus of Science" host Jack Pop can finally put his feet up and watch the wild experiments on stage in the Kupfersaal. Because special guest Marcus Weber from the "Physikanten" - known from the ARD quiz show "Wer weiß denn sowas?" - is bringing half an hour of physics tricks and wow-effects to this special edition. From the "gasoline organ" to the "laser bass" to fire vortex rings! This edition is therefore particularly child-friendly; smart kids aged 10 and over are very welcome.
But it's not just the stage program that offers crazy gadgets and aha moments. Two young researchers welcome the audience in the foyer with a captivatingly tasty engineering project: Philipp Engmann and Adrian Thomae from Gräfenhainichen have built a pancake machine and won prizes in last year's "Jugend forscht" competition in Saxony-Anhalt. They will explain how they want to achieve the delicious-sounding "autonomous series production of pancakes" with their pancake machine during the admission time - including tasting, of course! As always, there will also be science input directly from the Leipzig research landscape: ecotoxicologist Bernadette Mederer is researching the potential dangers of environmental pollutants at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research and, as a science influencer on Instagram and TikTok under the name "The Poison Gal", she also provides information on the subject of harmful substances and environmental pollution. In her stage presentation, the PhD student gives an overview of the currently much-discussed risks of microplastics and explains the problems they pose for humans and animals. Bernadette Mederer also shows why caution is advised when "detox methods" circulating on the internet claim to be able to remove microplastic particles from the body.
Musical accompaniment is provided by singer Richard Tautenhahn and guitarist André Gorjatschow, who, as the "smallest show band in the world", deliver an acoustic all-round performance between pleasing pop jingles, brutal metal riffs and sophisticated guitar pieces.
