Jazz im Bunker / Andi Maile‘s Ellington Projekt

In the organizer's words:

The new Monday concert series at the Kulturbunker Stuttgart!

SOULFUL JAZZ FOR THE PEOPLE

The Stuttgart saxophonist Andi Maile continues the legacy of the recently deceased trumpeter Tom Banholzer. The man from Constance killed two musical birds with one stone: he dedicated his own arrangements of selected compositions by the jazz titan Duke Ellington to the brilliant Miles Davis Quintet of the 1950s, ennobled by the grand master Al Jarreau himself (!). Hard bop could not and cannot sound more swinging. Since 1999, the band has played countless concerts, mainly in southern Germany and Switzerland, and has released two live CDs. Karoline Höfler from Stuttgart is still on board, as are Tobias Rädle from Friedrichshafen and Patrick Manzecchi from Constance. Tom Banholzer is now replaced by Thomas Siffling from Mannheim on trumpet and flugelhorn.

Cast:

ANDREAS MAILE tenor sax, soprano sax
THOMAS SIFFLING trumpet, flugelhorn
TOBIAS RÄDLE piano
KAROLINE HÖFLER bass
PATRICK MANZECCHI drums
(TOM BANHOLZER arrangements)
