JAZZ IN THE WALKS - Klawo and Showcase Aslan Trio feat. Kai Ringler

Klawo (/ˈklʌvɔ/) is a six-piece alternative jazz band that was founded in Gdańsk, Poland, in 2020. Deeply rooted in the spirit of the 1970s - a time when funk, soul, fusion and psychedelic were still too young to be seen as separate genres - Klawo combines an old-school approach with the modern sensibilities of post-dilla jazz, indie and electronic music. Equally influenced by classic funk acts and obscure DIY songwriters and emerging from Gdańsk's vibrant and diverse scene, the band has already played over 100 concerts in 14 countries . Klawo is considered one of the most promising new acts on the current Polish scene. Their sound - carried by two keyboards, a powerful rhythm section and melodic horns - is often compared to contemporary UK jazz acts, Polish funk from the 1970s and experimental hip-hop productions from the LA scene. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.

The Aslan Trio is made up of three young musicians who met in pre-college and have been working together to push the boundaries of jazz ever since. Their music moves between contemporary jazz, complex arrangements and an independent interpretation of groove, interaction and sound.

The trio is complemented by Kai Ringler. She moves stylistically between jazz and modern pop music and brings experience from different musical contexts. Her warm voice blends organically into the sound of the trio.
