Jazz Session // BigBand Dorsten feat. Lena-Larissa Senge

The BigBand Dorsten is one of the oldest and most renowned jazz ensembles in the Ruhr region. Throughout Germany and Europe, it delights audiences with its unmistakable sound à la Count Basie and Duke Ellington, in the spirit of the legendary swing greats.

Since its foundation in 1982, the BigBand Dorsten has always been a permanent guest at the Altstadtschmiede: this year, the 18-piece troupe from the neighboring town will once again present its tried-and-tested mix of old and new arrangements and thus offer a real concert highlight.

Joining them for the first time is singer Lena-Larissa Senge from Cologne: she is a versatile singer, composer and educator on the young German jazz scene. Her studies in jazz singing and vocal pedagogy at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (2012-2017) laid the foundation for her artistic career, in which she founded her quintet Lariza early on. With the band, she was awarded the Study Up Award (2016) and a concert scholarship from the Werner Richard Dr. Carl Doerken Foundation (2021). She was a member of the NRW Youth Jazz Orchestra and will perform a few beautiful standards with the Big Band Dorsten.
