Kaffeepassion mit Musik von Johann Sebastian Bach

In the organizer's words:

Offer: Public guided tour | Concert / Adults

Registration: recommended

On September 13, 2025, the Museum of Decorative Arts at the Kulturforum will host a special artistic treat as part of the "Porcelain and Music" series: the ensemble Titans Rising will perform the "Coffee Cantata" by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) in front of original pieces from the porcelain collection. Bach directed the Collegium Musicum in the Zimmermann'sches Kaffeehaus in Leipzig, one of the oldest coffee houses in Europe, for several years and performed many secular cantatas here, including the so-called coffee cantata ("Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht", BWV 211).

Curator Dr. Claudia Kanowski will explain the cultural and historical context of the history of coffee and porcelain. Of course, there will also be a small coffee tasting - an event for all the senses!

Participation free of charge with museum ticket.

Limited number of participants. Registration recommended at: kgm@smb.spk-berlin.de
