In this special concert, tradition and virtuosity meet at the highest level. Ustad Ghulam Hussain, whose name is inextricably linked with the rubab in Afghanistan, is regarded as one of the defining faces of this instrument. His music carries the soul of Kabul - memories, melancholy and the timeless beauty of a rich culture.

He is accompanied by the virtuoso tabla player Shukran Maray, whose finely nuanced rhythms form the heartbeat of this music. Together they revive the old songs of Kabul - finely interwoven, lively and full of expressiveness.

"Kharabad - Sound of Old Kabul" is more than just a concert: it is a musical return to the sounds of an open Afghanistan, which are now banned in the country itself.
