It's been twelve years since Canadian artist Kiesza made history with her hit "Hideaway". The deep house track has amassed over a billion streams to date and provided Kiesza with her big breakthrough early on in her career. For a long time, however, it didn't look like the artist from Calgary, Canada, would follow a musical path. Kiesa Rae Ellestad, Kiesza's real name, started her adult life in the Canadian navy. But because she never really let go of music, she later studied at Berklee College in Boston - one of the most renowned music academies in the world - and eventually came to songwriting. With the release of "Hideaway" in 2014 at the latest, it was clear that this new path was the right one. A track that not only received multiple accolades for its good-humored, driving beats, but also for the one-shot music video. The debut album "Sound Of A Woman" was released in the same year, reaching top positions in the charts worldwide and selling over a million copies. This was followed by a creative break of several years, which Kiesza was forced to take due to a serious car accident. It is all the more remarkable that with her comeback in 2020 with "Crave", the Canadian not only delivered another critically acclaimed album, but also displayed a completely new vision for her art. Namely, to push the boundaries of dance music further and make a mark as a female artist in the genre. Kiesza thus launched the dance music series "Dancing and Crying", of which two EPs have been released to date. Volume 3 of this project close to the singer's heart is already in the works and will be released on May 8. With all the dance influences in Kiesza's art, it goes without saying that the Canadian's live shows are like a dance party without equal. Shortly after the release of her "Dancing and Crying: Vol.3" EP, Kiesza will embark on a European tour, including a stop in Berlin.
