Kinonachmittag in der Hansabibliothek: Nichts bleibt und nichts verschwindet

In the organizer's words:

Followed by a discussion with Paul Sonntag and Sophie Korschildgen

Admission: 14:30

A street corner in Berlin-Moabit is changing: an ageing supermarket becomes a building site and finally a new building. Shelves are put away, walls are torn down, breaks are taken and money is counted. Between refrigerated shelves, scaffolding and exposed concrete, the film superimposes the versions of the location and lets them take place simultaneously. Sometimes playfully, sometimes eerily, repetitions emerge, like echoes between worlds.

"Nothing remains and nothing disappears" is a detailed long-term observation of a Berlin street corner where a supermarket closes and a café opens. A seemingly insignificant place thus becomes the protagonist of the film - and with it the question of how consumer relationships shape urban space and thus consume and change it at the same time. The film premiered in January 2026 at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival in Saarbrücken. (Art Space Center)
