"The sensations, images and allegories in dreams are fascinating: As knots of time, dreams connect the past, present and future. They contain hints and warnings, inspiration and discoveries, answers and questions to oneself and the world."
Bjeshkë Guri and Ilirjana Blakaj in The Catalog of Dreams, a research book on dream interpretation in different regions of Kosovo
The exhibition Knots of Time brings together works by three artists from Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine/Switzerland. They deal with cultural influences: the faiths they were born into, the cities they grew up in, the professions of their parents. They weave moments from the past into new, imaginative narratives that revolve around queer identity or family relationships, for example. They work artistically with a variety of materials and media such as textiles, installation and performance.
The exhibition is curated by Simon Kurti. He is a curatorial fellow of the GfZK and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. The exhibition is being realized as part of the Dr. Klaus Schaffner Prize.
