La Cage aux Folles

Georges runs the nightclub "La Cage aux Folles". The absolute star is his partner, the drag queen Zaza, alias Albin. Then Jean-Michel, Georges' son from a previous relationship, turns up: He wants to marry Anne, daughter of an ultra-conservative family, and, to Albin's greatest disappointment, asks Georges to the first meeting with the family alone. Albin is deeply offended. But he doesn't want to miss the dinner together in Jacqueline's restaurant ...

Jerry Herman created a classic of the musical genre with an empowerment anthem that not only gave the queer scene the strength to fight for more openness and justice. Staged by Barrie Kosky, the play becomes an ever-valid plea for the courage to stand up for oneself and for each other!
