In the organizer's words:

Inspired by Diego Rivera's monumental mural Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central , death in the form of a fine lady (La Catrina) strolls through the Humboldt Forum and encounters characters from all walks of life throughout Mexican history.

Created in 1947, the mural is considered the birth of the iconic figure of La Catrina, originally designed by illustrator José Guadalupe Posada and made internationally famous by Diego Rivera's work.
