"Lesung trifft Impro" is an extraordinary mix of prima vista reading and improvisational art - always new, irretrievable and eloquent in the best sense of the word! On Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 7:30 pm, the artist duo Dirk Lausch and Thomas Jäkel will finally bring this popular entertainment format to the place where it belongs: where the books live. Reading meets improv at the Hanover City Library.

What is reading meets improv?

"Lesung trifft Impro" is probably the most spontaneous reading and the most exquisite improv in the city. Voice actor and actor Dirk Lausch reads out anything the audience brings along: the receipt or the self-written love poem, the doctoral thesis in astrophysics, the telephone book or the Virginia Woolf novel. Improv actor and impromptu poet Thomas Jäkel then creates his very own rhyme for what he has heard: he rewrites, writes his own poetry, spins the text further and leads the audience into a different setting and a new story. Unrehearsed and entirely improvised, "Lesung trifft Impro" presents a uniquely spontaneous form of storytelling in which each performance produces new and unique texts.
