LIUN + The Science Fiction Band is a project by Lucia Cadotsch and Wanja Slavin. The duo released their third album "Does It Make You Love Your Life?" in May this year. It is a dazzling hybrid of synthpop and jazz, orchestral, full of polyrhythms, dry beats and with fleeting yet present echoes of wave and no-wave sounds. Every note is exactly where it should be, and yet everything sounds so casual and free that you can't help but be amazed. One thing is certain: This music is timeless in the best sense of the word, because it draws on the past and a future that we listeners are only just learning about. How did they know this before us?

"Does It Make You Love Your Life?" is an electro-acoustic studio album, with a 13-piece string ensemble, numerous contributors from the thriving Berlin music scene and Cadotsch's unmistakable vocal style. Together, the two have created a multi-layered world. Cadotsch provides the emotional depth of the project with her lyrics, melodies and visual concept, while Slavin's arrangements, production and mixing characterize the acoustic level of the album, which was mastered by Kurt Rosenwinkel. The album is accompanied by music videos created in collaboration with the master of post-post-modern dance Meg Stuart.

Lucia Cadotsch is one of the best-known singers on the European contemporary jazz scene and is best known for her long-standing band projects Speak Low, LIUN + The Science Fiction Band and AKI. With her clear timbre and artfully nuanced phrasing, she lends warmth and emotional clarity to every text. This characteristic expression runs like a common thread through her versatile musical collaborations.

Wanja Slavin is one of the most innovative voices on the current European music scene. Trained as a jazz saxophonist, he developed an interdisciplinary understanding of sound early on that goes far beyond genre boundaries. As a composer, arranger and producer, he combines electronic textures with orchestral structures, improvisational freedom with precise sound design. He has also worked with artists such as Jameszoo, David Friedman, Petter Eldh and the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra and is regularly present in cross-genre projects between jazz, new music and club culture.
