Something magical connects the people in a small town in Saxony-Anhalt. A blue stone wanders through hands and time and brings us closer to two women: one works in a café, the other is a YouTuber - and then there's Sung-Nam. It's all about chance acquaintances, the most beautiful sights, the East and love in this enchanting fairy tale that lures its audience deeper and deeper into the mine of the past, chapter by chapter and with great charm.

'A Thousand Waves Away'

In a time before a thousand waves, young people searched for a foothold in a sun-drenched sea of flowers and plants. They picked, fled and lay down on an electronic music carpet between stone and shaking earth.

About the film series

Looking Back to the Present
From November 14 to December 19, 2025, we will transform our historic hall in the former E-Werk into a venue for film events. Current festival films, historical works and experimental short films will be shown - accompanied by guests such as the musician Sky Deep or the filmmakers Ulrike Ottinger and Julian Radlmaier. The series combines the present and film history and invites you to experience the Kinemathek as a place of exchange in a new way.
