Major Tom: Völlig losgelöst - Ein multimediales Musikerlebnis in 360°

Peter Schilling has shaped entire generations with his music and continues to inspire many people around the world to this day. In January 2026, the artist celebrates his 70th birthday and we are celebrating this with the new immersive fulldome program "Major Tom: completely detached". A production of the Planetarium Berlin Foundation together with Peter Schilling, which breaks new ground in combining music and astronomy with elaborate fulldome visualizations and a 3D sound design specially adapted to the dome. "Major Tom: completely detached" can only be experienced exclusively in the Zeiss-Großplanetarium for six months. From April 2026, the program will then be shown in planetariums worldwide.

Peter Schilling has been one of the most important voices in German pop music since the 1980s. The fulldome experience "Major Tom: völlig losgelöst" is a multimedia trip through his broad musical spectrum. Iconic world hits such as "Major Tom (völlig losgelöst)" and "The Different Story", "Terra Titanic" or "Die Wüste lebt" are complemented by new, previously unreleased compositions. The result is a futuristic experience that makes music tangible in an innovative way.

Under the artistic direction of Rocco Helmchen and with 3D sound design by Tom Ammermann in collaboration with internationally renowned artists such as the laser artist Paul Alty, the fulldome designer Sébastien Labrunie, the fractal filmmaker Julius Horsthuis, the motion designer Sergey Prokofyev and the audiovisual artist Meisam Nemati, a sound and visual experience is created that touches on all levels. The interplay of the different media creates a multi-layered, immersive dimension in the dome, in which artistic soundscapes and scientifically inspired aesthetics merge into an impressive overall experience.
