Malala Yousafzai, the daughter of a school principal in Pakistan, wrote a blog for the BBC in which she wrote about everyday life under the Islamist regime and vehemently advocated for her right to an education. When the Taliban shot the then fifteen-year-old on October 9, 2012, Malala became world-famous. Undeterred by the death threats, she continued to formulate her demands. On her sixteenth birthday, she gave a speech at the United Nations.
She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
British author Nick Wood chooses a strictly subjective approach to bring this story to a theater audience: An author sits at a table and thinks about Malala. She approaches the story of an extraordinary person questioningly. In doing so, she repeatedly reflects on her own prejudices and assumptions. A picture puzzle, a quasi-documentary research on Malala, whose story tells us one thing: That the courageous actions of a single person can be decisive for how we see the world.
