Luzia grows up in a loving home community that provides a refuge for very different people. Various forms of love - queer, platonic, many more - and shared parenthood are practiced in the house. Later, as an adult, Luzia fights against patriarchal structures as a theater director and tries to change things for the better.
Her friend Marle, whom she has known since her youth, feels a strong desire to have children in her early forties and decides to take an unusual path away from dating and relationships with men. She experiences great solidarity in the house.
But suddenly, after a devastating storm, everything that this family of choice has built up over decades seems to be under threat. What does it take for such a community to survive in times like these?
This powerful book questions our beliefs about friendship and romance and boldly describes the utopia we want for our lives.

Mareike Fallwickl made her debut in 2018 with "Dunkelgrün fast schwarz", followed by "Das Licht ist hier viel heller" in 2019. "Die Wut, die bleibt" (2022) was a great success with the press and audience, was performed on stage at the Salzburg Festival and is being made into a movie. "Und alle so still" (2024) reached the top 10 of the Spiegel bestseller list and is also being staged at various theaters. Mareike Fallwickl lives in Salzburger Land and is committed to promoting literature both online and offline, with a focus on female and diverse narrative voices.
